Key West Offshore and Light Tackle Report
Atlantic Side
Fishing in Key West is picking up steam and has been very productive in the past few weeks. Large sailfish are being caught in 120- 200 feet of water on live bait. This puts you in comfortable water within 10-20 miles from shore. Also, blackfin tuna are plentiful on pilchers. High speed trolling has been successful in landing some of the largest wahoo of the season. Finally, their have also been some dolphin showing up offshore.
Gulf Side
Kingfish up to 60 pounds have been showing up in 40 feet of water within 15 miles of Key West. As usual, Grouper and snapper fishing in the Gulf is also very productive.
Notable Catch of the week:
Two 40 pound wahoo and an offshore slam (Wahoo, Tuna, and sailfish)
